Developing strategies from the artistic anxiety of being invisible and useless or Anxious parasites will save the worlds

A presentation within the symposium Time is a Book (is Time), initiated by Els Dietvorst and Dirk Braeckman, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp
October 21-25, 2019

The concept Artistic Anxieties stands for an artistic practice that looks for developing a mode of critique from an unstable position, exploring uncertainties and “following the treads where they lead.” This presentation focused on the consuming, unpleasant and maybe not so useless feeling of anxiety in relation to the artistic strategies that are feeding on context. Exploring anxiety as a condition for sensitivity to the complexity of art (and life), I shared historical references of parasitic strategies as well as from peers and her own practice.
